The Washington-Lee Volleyball team suffered a loss to Lake Braddock last night, for a good cause.
The Generals fell 3-0 (12-25, 22-25, 18-25) to the Bruins during their Stand Up 2 Cancer charity event. During the event, the Generals wore pink, but brought awareness to all types of cancer, not just breast cancer.
"I think we played well, it was kind of off for us, I think we were distracted with the cancer awareness and wearing the pink jerseys," said libero Megan Adkins-Blanch. "I think we attacked well and passed well and adjusted to their defense well."

Head coach John Delaney said the girls weren't playing their game, so today's practice will focus on remembering how much they enjoy playing volleyball together. They will work on offense and defense.
Adkins-Blanch, Becca Jones and Synthia Boudreau remained solid throughout the match, but Delaney said even the best players played a little off at times.

A standout characteristic to notice about the Generals is their support for each other. Even when they lose the point, the girls give each other a pat on the back and encourage each other. It is obvious from the stands the respect the Generals have for each other and their coaches.
A lot of volleyball teams of all levels participate in Dig Pink during October to support breast cancer, but W-L got involved with SU2C to support awareness for all types of cancer. Unfortunately, the Generals volleyball program has suffered the loss of two parents to cancer already this season.
The Generals take on Oakton tomorrow and hope to bounce back from last night's loss.
