Huge Traffic Closures Coming to Clarendon

The annual Clarendon Day races and festival will result in major closures on Saturday, so be prepared.

ARLINGTON, VA — Clarendon Day is here, and that means the whole neighborhood is getting shut down to traffic for much of the day this coming Saturday, so you might want to plan accordingly.

Clarendon Day will take place rain or shine, and will feature four music stages on the streets surrounding the Clarendon Metro from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, according to a statement on the event's website.

Sehkraft Brewery will be on hand offering free tastings and food to those who purchase the $30 VIP tickets. There will also be dozens of arts and crafts vendors, as well as plenty of food vendors and non-profit organizations.

The festival will shut down Wilson Boulevard and Clarendon Boulevard between Washington Boulevard and N. Garfield Street, according to the Arlington County Police Department. It will also result in the closure of Highland Street between N. 11th Street and N. Hartford Street. The closure will remain in effect from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m.

In addition, there will be 5K, 10K and Kids Dash races as part of the festival. These will take place in the morning and will result in the closure of Wilson Boulevard between N. Garfield Street and Route 110, and N. Kent Street between Wilson Boulevard and N. 19th Street, as well as Rt. 110 northbound. The closures will remain in effect from 6:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

"Attendees are encouraged to use shared transportation options," police state. "Washington Boulevard between Highland Street and Clarendon Boulevard has been designated for Uber, Lift, and Taxi’s pickup and drop-offs."
