Loaded AR-Style Rifle Recovered Following Dispute At Arlington Home

ARLINGTON, VA — A 56-year-old Arlington man is facing multiple charges, including reckless handling of an AR-style rifle, following a dispute inside a home in the Lyon Park neighborhood on Tuesday night.

Officer from the Arlington County Police Department responded around 9:18 p.m. for the report of a dispute inside a residence in the 900 block of N. Ivy Street. When the officers tried to make contact with the occupants of the residence by knocking and identifying themselves, they hearth sound of a firearm slide being racked inside the home.

After establishing a perimeter around home, police obtained a warrant to search the residence. ACPD's Emergency Response Team executed the warrant and arrested the suspect, who was later identified as Eric Salvan of Arlington. They also recovered an AR-style rifle loaded with a drum magazine and ammunition, according to police.

Investigators determine that Salvan had gotten into an argument with the victim, whom he assaulted, according to police. Before officers arrived on the scene, the victim had safely left the home and was later located.

Police charged Salvan with reckless handling of a firearm and assault & battery.
