National District Meet: W-L First, Yorktown Fourth, Wakefield Sixth

Washington-Lee earns first place at the National District meet.

Washington-Lee Gymnastics took first place at the National District Gymnastics Meet at Mount Vernon High School on Feb. 7 and advance to the Northern Region Competition. Edison placed second, Falls Church third, Yorktown fourth, Mount Vernon fifth, and Wakefield sixth. The Top 2 teams from each District go to Regionals which are scheduled to be held at Lake Braddock Secondary School on Feb. 10.

Washington-Lee's Mary-Lynn Clark swept by placing First in All-Around individual competition, Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor. Teammates Maia Mandel placed second in All-Around, third in Vault, third in Beam, and fifth in Bars; Madeleine Sendek placed sixth in All-Around, second in Bars, fifth in Beam, seventh in Vault, and eighth in Floor.

Yorktown's Jessi Mitrovich placed eighth in All-Arounnd, sixth in Beam, and seventh in Bars while teammate Natalie Yoder placed eighth in Bars.

Wakefield failed to place.
