Cockroaches, Flies And Dishwashing Failures: Arlington Restaurant Inspections (patch.com) — Arlington diners may want to check recent health inspection results, as 15 local restaurants, bars, hotels and a child care center were cited for issues ranging from pests to dishwashing failures and unsafe food temperatures. County inspectors say many violations at spots like Z-Burger, Lyon Hall and several Columbia Pike eateries were fixed on the spot, but the reports highlight ongoing food safety vigilance in Arlington.

Leaders Demand Answers After Arlington Man Reports Serious Injuries In ICE Encounter (patch.com) — Arlington's Commonwealth's Attorney is urging a police investigation after an Arlington man reported serious injuries during an encounter with federal immigration agents, while ICE disputes key parts of his account. Rep. Don Beyer and other Northern Virginia leaders are also seeking answers and warning residents to know their rights during immigration enforcement encounters.
   

3. Campus ministry expands (catholicherald.com) — Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington is significantly expanding its campus ministry program as Father Daniel Reuwer starts his second year as chaplain. Eight teachers will now support retreats, Bible studies, service trips, and small-group discipleship alongside four full-time staff, aiming to deepen students' faith and sense of Christian service.
   

4. Remembering 9/11: Rare footage of Pentagon response released (k923orlando.com) — Newly released video offers Arlington residents a rare, close-up look at how the Arlington County Fire Department and other responders worked around the burning Pentagon in the days after 9/11. Long-stored footage from a civilian film crew is now being shared online through the 9/11 Legacy Foundation, highlighting the courage and coordination of local emergency teams.
   

5. Barre & Body Image with barre3 Arlington (arlnow.com) — An Arlington-based barre studio is teaming up with Rock Recovery for a free barre class and body image talk on Saturday, Aug. 29, with donations supporting local therapy programs. All fitness levels are welcome, and contributions help expand accessible care for people struggling with disordered eating and self-image.
