UPDATE: Suspicious Death Now Ruled A Homicide; Victim Identified

The Chief Medical Examiner has ruled last Friday's suspicious death in Ballston-Virginia Square as a homicide.

UPDATE: (Tuesday, Jan. 21, 4:25 p.m.) The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled Tuesday that the Jan. 17 suspicious death in the Ballston-Virginia Square neighborhood was now classified as a homicide, according to an Arlington County Police release. Police identified the victim as Scott Ratigan, 24, of Arlington. The case remains under investigation.

ARLINGTON, VA -- Arlington County Police are investigating a suspicious death that took place Friday evening, in the Ballston-Virginia Square neighborhood, according to a police release.

Officers were dispatched Friday, Jan. 17, around 5:29 p.m., to the 800 block of N. Randolph Street for the report of a cardiac arrest. Arriving on the scene, they located a deceased adult male inside the residence. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

An initial investigation has determined that there is no immediate threat to the community. Police are continuing to investigate the case.
