The RAMMY Nominees Are Out -- Here's the Arlington Restaurants That Got Nods

Arlington establishments got a range of nominations ranging from food to service to favorite gathering place.

It's time for the annual RAMMY Awards, and a few Arlington establishments are getting some attention for their contributions to the dining scene in the Washington, D.C. area.

The Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington has released its finalists for the 2016 RAMMY Awards, and they will announce winners June 12 at the 34th Annual RAMMY Awards Gala, as we reported.

Clarendon coffee shop Northside Social Coffee & Wine has been nominated for "Favorite Gathering Place of the Year." The category recognizes restaurants that serve as a popular spot for the community to gather.

And Northside's pastry chef, Bridie McCulla, has been nominated for a "Pastry Chef of the Year" RAMMY. Tressa Wiles of Bayou Bakery gives Arlington a second representative in this category.

Jonah Kim of Yona in Ballston is getting a nod for "Rising Culinary Star of the Year" for his Japanese and Korean restaurant. Yona describes itself as a "full-service noodle bar and Japanese small plates restaurant." It opened last year.

But it's not just about the food with the RAMMY Awards: service and management are also recognized. Andrea Raiello of the Water & Wall has been nominated for "Employee of the Year," and Carlos Fernandez of Best Buns Bread Company has gotten a "Manger of the Year" nod.
