Van Leeuwen Ice Cream's On Again, Off Again Opening Now On Again
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream will be offering $1 scoops at Tuesday's opening of the new National Landing shop, as originally planned.

ARLINGTON, VA — Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, the NYC-born creamery specializing in made-from-scratch dairy and vegan ice cream, will be opening its new shop in National Landing on Tuesday as originally planned, a company spokeswoman said in an email to Patch on Monday.
Patch first reported last Thursday that Van Leeuwen was planning to open its first scoop shop in Northern Virginia at National Landing on Tuesday. Then on Friday, the spokeswoman contacted Patch saying that the opening was postponed. But as of Monday afternoon, everything is back on.
From 3-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Van Leeuwen National Landing will be offering $1 scoops, and free Van Leeuwen-branded totes to the first 100 guests in line beginning at 3 p.m.

"We're looking forward to getting to know the Arlington community and sharing good ice cream made with good ingredients," said Ben Van Leeuwen, co-founder and CEO of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. "We've gotten such a welcome response in the area since expanding to DC a little over a year ago and we're excited to continue to grow here."
In 2023, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream opened three locations in Washington, Union Market, Georgetown, and Adams Morgan. The National Landing shop, located at 269 19th Court South, will be the company's first in Virginia

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream's National Landing shop serve 30 signature flavors, including Vanilla Bean,Honeycomb, Pistachio, Marionberry Cheesecake, Praline Butter Cake and Earl Grey Tea. Customers will also be able to enjoy sundaes, house-made waffle cones, ice cream sandwiches, root beer floats, milkshakes and pints to-go.
