Virginia's Best School Districts: New Rankings Released

ARLINGTON, VA — Virginia may have some issues — a transportation system and infrastructure in need of upgrades, a high tax rate, and a high cost of living — but there is one thing we have going for us and that is a stellar education system. Virginia routinely ranks near the top of the best educated states and data compiler Niche has ranked the states's best school districts for 2019.

The rankings were released this week as part of the website's 2019 K-12 rankings. Arlington Public Schools is the No.1 school district in the state. Niche ranked a total of 100 school districts in the Commonwealth.

Loudoun County, Albemarle County, Falls Church City Public Schools and Fairfax County Public Schools closed out the top five spots in the state.

According to Niche, the Jericho Union Free School District in Jericho, New York, is the best school district in the country overall. With an overall Niche grade of A+, the district received a grade of A+ in academics, teachers, clubs and activities, college prep and health and safety. In the category of diversity, Niche awarded the school district a B+.

To arrive at these rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)
