Woman Cut By Razor Blade Taped To Political Sign: Police

Arlington County Police are investigating an incident in which a woman was cut by a razor blade attached to a political sign.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police are warning the public to use caution when removing political signs after a local woman reported being cut by a razor blade taped to a sign, according to a police release.

After removing political signs from the median of George Mason Drive between Yorktown Boulevard and Four Mile Run Drive early Wednesday afternoon, a woman brought them back to a family member's home. As she was separating a sign from its metal base, she was cut by a razor blade that had been taped to the bottom of the sign. Police say the woman received minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.

Although ACPD has received no reports of similar incidents, this case remains an active criminal investigation. ACPD encourages members of the public to carefully inspect any political signage before they remove it from the public right-of-way and private property. Anyone who observes signs of tampering is asked to call the Emergency Communications Center at 703-558-2222 or 9-1-1 in an emergency.
