ARLINGTON, VA — The Special Victim's Unit of the Arlington County Police Department is investigating a sexual battery that took place Friday morning in the Penrose neighborhood, according to a police release.

Officers were dispatched around 12:33 a.m., for the report of unknown trouble in the 2500 block of Arlington Boulevard. They learned that an unknown man had entered the victim's residence through a window, awoke the victim, and began touching her inappropriately. The victim screamed, which caused the man to flee from the residence. Responding officers searched the area with the assistance of the Fairfax County Police Helicopter Unit, but the suspect was not found.

Police describe the suspect as standing 6-foot tall man with an average build. At the time of the assault, he was wearing dark clothing, a ski mask, and gloves.
