Yorktown Boys Lacrosse Begins Fall Mulch Fundraiser
Mulch comes in 3-cubic-foot bags for $4.95 each.

The Yorktown High School boys lacrosse team is selling shredded hardwood mulch for a fall fundraiser.
The team, which sells, delivers and stacks the mulch for its Arlington County customers twice a year, uses the fundraiser to buy extra equipment and to support various activities.
Each bag is 3 cubic feet and sells for $4.95 per bag. A minimum of 10 bags is necessary for free delivery. Neighbors are encouraged to order together if they need fewer than 10 bags.

Orders are due Oct. 2 and the team will deliver the mulch on Oct. 13.
The fundraiser is possible thanks to the "best efforts" of the team members and their parents, said Steve Thayer, fundraising chairman of the Yorktown Lacrosse Booster Club.

Several tractor-trailer loads of mulch will be dumped on the Yorktown High School parking lot in October and the players will load it up and deliver it to their customers' specifications.
"It's a good fundraiser. It's all done by the kids' and parents' muscle-power," Thayer said. "It's nice, compared to a lot of fundraisers, the kids do all the work. And it gets them out in the community."
