Man Arrested, Accused Of Driving Suspect To And From Murder Scene Last Month: Police

A 57-year-old man from Leesburg was arrested and charged in connection with the homicide of a woman in Ashburn on Dec. 30, police said.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A man from Leesburg was arrested on Friday in connection with the murder of Najat Goode, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said. Police claimed that the man, Abdul Waheed of Leesburg, drove the murder suspect to and from the scene of the crime on Dec. 30.

The murder suspect, who police have identified as Furqan Syed, is still at large. Authorities believe he fled the country earlier this month.

Waheed is charged with accessory before the fact to first-degree murder and accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. He is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

Detectives believe that there was a prior connection linking the suspects and the victim. However, authorities have not specified the nature of the connection.

Officials with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office are working with international law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Marshals Service to locate Syed, who is wanted for first-degree murder, among other charges.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 30, deputies were called to a home in the 23200 block of Connie Marie Terrace after the woman was found by a family member. Authorities said the woman was taken to StoneSprings Hospital Center where she died. The victim was later identified as Goode.
