Driver in Hospital After Leesburg Courthouse Crash

No damage to building, according to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office

The driver of a car that crashed through the iron fence around the Loudoun County Courthouse in Leesburg on Wednesday was taken to a local hospital and is expected to fully recover, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred shortly after 1:45 p.m. The driver of the 2014 Subaru, an unidentified woman, was traveling from an alleyway on East Market Street in downtown Leesburg when she suffered a medical emergency, according to a report from the sheriff’s office. The police did not specify the emergency.

The driver drove across East Market Street, struck a Ford F150 pickup truck owned by the town government of Leesburg, and then crashed through the fence around the courthouse grounds, the report said.

The driver veered right and continued across the lawn, eventually coming to a stop after striking the raised landing, or walkway, of the courthouse complex. There did not appear to be any structural damage to the building, according to the sheriff’s office.
