Front Royal man is hospitalized, faces DUI charge, says Loudoun County Sheriff's Office

A Front Royal man is hospitalized with serious injuries after his pickup truck rolled over several times in an accident Monday on Route 7 in Ashburn, according to police.
The driver, Paul T. Cooney, 37, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, according to a report from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Following the accident, reported at 11:40 a.m., he was initially treated at the Lansdowne campus of Inova Loudoun Hospital before being transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital.
The report described how the single-vehicle crash happened: Cooney was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup westbound on Route 7. At the light at Ashburn Village Boulevard, the truck struck the guardrail to the left.
The vehicle moved across the lanes of westbound Route 7, leaving the north side of the roadway. The driver then came back onto the roadway again, mpving back across all westbound lanes and entering the median, where the truck rolled several times. It came to rest upright partially in the left lane of eastbound Route 7.
