Police: Driver Arrested After Hitting Mailbox

Sterling man faces DUI, other charges in Sunday night incident, says Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Loudoun County police arrested a Sterling man on Sunday night for driving under the influence after his car allegedly struck a mailbox and left the scene.

The driver, Danis J. Alfaro, 37, also was charged with misdemeanor hit and run as well as eluding law enforcement, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies responded at 9:28 p.m. Sunday to a report of a driver whose car hit a mailbox in the area of Williamsburg Road in Sterling before leaving the scene, a Loudoun police report stated.

They located the driver, and his vehicle continued to move before stopping in the area of South Dickenson Avenue and East Dickenson Avenue in Sterling.

A passenger in the vehicle did not comply with commands by the deputies to exit the vehicle, the report said. He was taken into custody and charged with bring drunk in public.
