• Board approves agreements for two solar projects (henrycountyenterprise.com) — Henry County supervisors just backed two community solar projects and took several actions directly affecting Bassett, including honoring the Kiwanis Club's 100th anniversary and funding a study to link six Bassett bridges into a new loop trail system. The board also advanced school roof repairs, public safety vehicle upgrades, and a request to lower a nearby speed limit, shaping daily life across the county.

• Day of Action logs more than 450 volunteer hours (henrycountyenterprise.com) — United Way's Day of Action brought more than 120 volunteers to Martinsville and Henry County, logging over 450 hours on local projects and drives. With pacesetter partners like Bassett Furniture already raising nearly a quarter of a $500,000 campaign goal, the organization is now recruiting participants and volunteers for an Oct. 27 financial reality simulation at the West Piedmont Higher Education Center.
