Centreville High Sports Review

A look at recent CVHS sports scores.

The Cross Country team competed in the Dobson Double Duals at Lake Fairfax on Oct. 19.

The freshman and sophomore girls race showed the Wildcats’ top placements: Natalie King (8th), McKinsey Smith (10th), and Christina Makhlouf (13th). Andrew Yow finished in 11th, Presley Day in 13th and Dean Dickinson in 17th place; they were the top three CVHS runners in the freshman/sophomore boys division.

The top three CVHS finishers for the junior/senior boys race were Daniel Molina in 15th place, Calvin Jones in 19th and Sean Ngyuen in 26th. Finishing strong for the girls junior/senior division were Kara Perdue with 18th place, Elizabeth Ellis with 22nd place and Elizabeth Carpenter in 28th.

The top times for the boys were: senior Daniel Molina (18:27), junior Calvin Jones (18:36), freshman Andrew Yow (18:37), freshman Presley Day (18:41), and sophomore Dean Dickinson (18:54). The top times for the girls were: freshman Natalie King (22:07), McKinsey Smith (22:13), Christina Makhlouf (22:29), Isabella Muzo (22:32) and junior Kara Perdue (23:40). 

The Wildcat's top seven boys and girls are now gearing up to compete in the Concorde District Championships this Thursday, Oct. 27th, at . Representing the Wildcats are: Chan Young Lee, Chris Jones, Bobby Dunn, Gabriel Rushkin, Andrew Yow, Kip Talman, and Daniel Molina for the boys, and Rebecca Vintner, Jackie O'Shea, Joanna Ahn, Emily McLenigan, Kylie Cuomo, Natalie King and McKinsey Smith for the girls.

Volleyball: The Lady Wildcats played against on Oct. 24 and their last game will be at on Oct. 27. Recently they lost a close match with Robinson at home, losing 3-2 with set scores of 20-25, 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-8. 

Varsity Field Hockey: but then lost to in the semi-final round Concorde District Tournament by the score of 2-1. The team is slated to play in the opening round of the Northern Region Tournament on Oct. 25th. 

Football: .

Senior Mitch Ferrick completed all six of his passing attempts for 159 yards and 3 touchdowns. Senior Chase Walter caught touchdown passes of 72 yards and 30 yards. Senior Manny Smith had 102 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns.

The Wildcats next play against the  on Friday, Oct. 28th, at 7:30 p.m.
