Centreville High Weekly Sports Review

A roundup of the latest sports scores from Centreville High.

Girls basketball: The defeated Broad Run on Monday night, Dec. 12, with a solid 70-42 victory. Three Wildcats scored in double figures with sophomore Jenna Green scoring 18, sophomore Katie Blumer 16 and senior Chaney Forbush 15. With the victory Centreville improved to 4-1 on the young season.

The next night, the Lady Wildcats improved their record to 5-1 with a strong 64-37 victory over the . The Wildcats were again led in scoring by Green with 23 points. Blumer added 15 points by hitting five 3-pointers. Forbush led all rebounders with 6 boards.

At the end of the busy week, on Friday, Dec. 17, Centreville’s ladies improved to 6-1 with their third victory of the week, a wire-to-wire 53-35 victory over the Washington-Lee Lady Generals. Leading the Wildcats this was Forbush with 14 points and 11 rebounds, her third double/double of the year. Green added 11 points and 8 assists, while Blumer added 13 points, including three 3-pointers.

The girls basketball team members hope to keep up their good work this week, and are scheduled to play at George Marshall on Tuesday, Dec. 20th 7:30 p.m.   

Boys Basketball: On Tuesday, December 13, the was defeated by  at home, by a final score of 64-54.  Evan Fuller scored 23 points and had 9 rebounds while Rahji Johnson scored 13 for the Wildcats.

On Friday the 16th, the team fell to 3-4 on the season with a 62-59 overtime loss to . Centreville was led in scoring by Fuller's career-high 28 points. Johnson added 11 points while Mitch Mahoney added 9. The team is next scheduled to play on Tuesday, Dec. 20th, at 7:30 p.m. at home against .           

Gymnastics The gymnastics team started their season with two meets in the first part of December. On Thursday, Dec. 8th, the team finished fifth out of six teams with a team total of 111.80. In individual results, Adrian Hurdle placed in third on beam and third all-around. On Tuesday, Dec. 13th, the team finished fourth out of six teams with a team total of 112.30. In individual results, Ariella Nelson received sixth place on vault.       


Swim and Dive

On Friday, Dec. 16th, CVHS had their swim meet against . Despite losing the meet, the team members had impressive performances:
