Former Day-Care Worker to be Sentenced Soon

Siyamand Salehzadeh, of Manassas, pled guilty recently to a charge of sodomy.

A former Centreville day-care worker will be sentenced later this month, after he pleaded guilty to sodomy charges in connection with allegations that he molested a 4-year-old girl under his care at the facility.

Siyamand Salehzadeh, 22, of Lavenham Court in Manassas, was working at the Minnieland Private Day School on Compton Village Drive in the Centreville area, when the incident took place last year. According to court records, Salehzadeh pleaded guilty to a single sodomy charge on Dec. 1 and remains in custody at the Fairfax County jail. He will appear in Fairfax Circuit Court for sentencing on March 25.

Last September, police were alerted to allegations that the girl had been sexually assaulted while at the day care facility. After police issued an arrest warrant for Salehzadeh on Sept. 24, he was captured the next day at the Canadian border in New York State, where he was attempting to leave the country. In his possession was his own U.S. passport as well as his brother’s Iranian passport.

He was later extradited back to Fairfax County to face charges. Upon sentencing, Salehzadeh could receive anywhere from five years to life in prison for his guilty plea, said Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Mark Sullivan.
