JV Soccer Team Finishes Season Undefeated

Wildcats enjoy six weeks of consecutive victories.

Many athletes dream of achieving an undefeated season, but this spring 13 freshmen and 10 sophomores from actually made that dream come true. After three tie games in four weeks to start the season back in March, the Wildcats boys JV soccer team enjoyed a six-week streak of victorious games, finishing the season with a 9-0-3 record and were crowned Concorde District Champions. 

To reach this achievement, the team won over district rivals, and , and tied and . They also scored victories against , Lee, , , and high schools, and tied Annandale in the first game of the season.  

Strong up-and-coming junior varsity players couldn’t come at a better time for varsity soccer coach Brian Cochran, who will lose 10 senior varsity soccer players – half of his team – when they graduate later this month. The varsity squad amassed a record of 8-6-1 for their spring 2011 season. They beat Westfield 5-4 on a penalty kick in the Concorde District Quarterfinals before falling to Herndon in the semi-finals in mid-May.

Forward Connor Coward, a junior, and mid-fielder Tyler Lawrence, a senior, were named to the , and Coward was also named to the 1st Team All Northern Region team.
