Volleyball: In their first game of the season on Sept. 12, competed against the Saxons at , losing three sets to none, 21-25, 15-25, 19- 25. Grace Simmons had 9 kills, junior Haley Santymire had 14 digs, and Grace and Janine Simmons had three blocks each.
That same night, the freshmen team won 2-0, and JV lost in a tough three-set match, 23-25, 25-22, 14-16.
On Sept. 15, lost a hard-fought five-set match to Madison, 25-22, 19-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-17. CVHS’s freshman team won, 2 sets to 1, and JV lost 2-0.

After these two losses came Centreville’s first victory of the season, against rival at the First Colonial on Sept. 17. The varsity team posted three-set win, 25-21, 25-22, 25-22.
Golf: On Sept. 12, the CVHS golf team won their match against , 139-151. The next day, the team won their match against crosstown rival by a score of 157-175. In their third successive day of varsity competition, the varsity team lost to Chantilly, 170-145.

This week the team will practice daily to ready themselves for Districts, on Sept. 26-27, at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Clifton.
Cross Country: The Wildcats Cross Country team is doing a great job working together and putting together tough, aggressive races. On Sept. 17, the varsity girls placed third in the varsity B race at the Oatlands Invitational in Leesburg. Rebecca Vinter, Jackie O'Shea, Joanna Ahn, Emily McLenigan, Kylie Cuomo and Leilani Boren all won trophies for the school.
Other top finishers included: Chris Jones (1st place JV upperclassmen), Esteban Molina (23rd JV underclassman), Presley Day (17th JV underclassman) , Chan Young Lee (19th, varsity B - boys), Rebecca Vinter (9th varsity B - girls), Jackie O'Shea (tenth varsity B - Girls), and Joanna Ahn (23rd varsity B - girls).
Only three short days earlier, on Sept. 14, the team had an impressive showing at the Monroe Parker Invitational at Burke Lake. Bobby Dunn, the number one freshman on the team, broke 18 minutes at both meets. Freshman Jackie O’Shea was the girls' top finisher on Wednesday, breaking 20 minutes. O’Shea, along with senior Brian Dinschel, were named the team’s Runners of the Week.
All team members are adding yellow ribbons to their uniforms in support of their special Wildcat, Andrew McCaffrey (brother of team members Michael and Sara) who is fighting a rare bone cancer. The team’s next big invitational is the Glory Days Invitational , October 1st, at .
Field Hockey: lost in an away game to Thomas Jefferson High School of Science and Technology that went into overtime, on Wednesday, Sept. 14, by a score of 2-1. There were seven shots on goal by TJ against junior goalie Megan Kruse. The Lady Wildcats’ goal was scored by senior Caroline Bollman.
On Thursday, Sept. 15, defeated Centreville in a 3-0 loss at home. In their game, CVHS’s JV field hockey squad posted a shutout, winning spectacularly 4-0. During the next week, on Sept. 20th, the Lady Wildcats lost a heartbreaker, the final score 1-0 at home against . Sophomore Katherine Zempolich and Senior Maggie Dulkerian rallied the offense in the second half with a half dozen shots on goal. CVHS ‘s goalie Kruse had two saves and sophomore goalie Ashley Winkeler had one save.
Centreville will be looking for their first win of the season when they travel to Sidwell Friends on Thursday, Sept. 22 for their next game.
Football: Led by senior Manny Smith's 184 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns, improved to 3-0 with a over on Sept. 16. Senior Connor Coward added three touchdowns on 67 rushing yards.
The Wildcats next play at home against Herndon on Sept. 23rd at 7:30 p.m.
