A Wedding at Virginia Gold Cup!
Last Saturday, I had the opportunity to photograph the very first wedding reception ever to be held at Virginia Gold Cup! It was an amazing experience, to say the least.
If you've ever been to Gold Cup, you know that the event is much anticipated every year. And while it's hosted thousands of business parties and small celebrations, it has never been home to a wedding reception. Until this year.
Tory Peglar is from Warrenton, VA, but she and (her now husband) Doug currently live in Texas. When the couple decided to have their wedding in Tory's hometown, she really wanted to give her out-of-town guests a "Virginia" experience, and I love how it turned out! We couldn't have asked for a better day. The weather was just perfect, and Tory and Doug might be the most laid-back and fun-loving couple that I've ever met. Just being around them is enough to make you smile, and their wedding day was truly a delight to photograph!
The ceremony took place at the beautiful Grace Episcopal Church in The Plains, and the couple had a tented reception on Member's Hill. I wasn't quite sure how to envision a wedding reception taking place at Gold Cup, but it was just beautiful! Guests traveled back and forth between the reception tent and the races, and somehow it all felt seamless and natural. And I fell in love with all of the hats... I could have done a whole blog post on the amazing hats that Tory and Doug's guests wore that day! I have a feeling that this trend is going to catch on.
