Police Seek 'Mad Pooper' Caught Squatting In Multiple Colorado Springs Locations

A female jogger in Colo. Springs has been dropping her pants and squatting in yards and a Walgreens parking lot.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Colorado Springs police said more witnesses came forward to report seeing a female jogger — dubbed "the Mad Pooper" by neighbors — who has defecated on public sidewalks. The woman has also reportedly been seen leaving her signature calling card in back yards and in a Walgreens parking lot.

Cathy Budde first brought the issue to police, after her children reported a woman squatting on the sidewalk, she told local newscasters.

"They came screaming, like, ‘You're not going to believe this.’ They’re crying. I'm like, ‘What?’ They’re like, ‘There's a lady taking a poop.’ So, I come outside, and it’s like, oh dear goodness. I was like, 'Are you serious? Are you really taking a poop right here in front of my kids?’ And she's like, 'Yeah, sorry,'" Budde said.

But after the woman made a few return visits, with paper napkins in hand, Budde contacted authorities. She also posted a sign to dissuade the jogger from any more of her crap.

The worst thing is, according to Budde, there are public restrooms in the park across the street, as well as a gas station close by.

Needing to go "Number Two" while running is actually not unusual, according to Running Competitor magazine. "The sudden and overwhelming need to evacuate your bowels. In cases of extreme frequency or discomfort, this is known as runner’s diarrhea."

[Needing to defecate] happens to the best of us — even Paula Radcliffe. In 2005, on her way to winning the London Marathon, the women’s world record holder was forced to stop on the side of the road and take a dump in front of thousands of fans. She went on to win the race after pooping, saying that cramps had been bothering her.

But police say this woman runs the risk of being arrested for indecent exposure and public defecation.

"We are being careful here and considering that it might be a mental health issue," said Lt. Howard Black, spokesman for Colorado Springs Police on Wednesday. "We are trying to get in contact with this person."
