Spend the Summer on Stage
Auditions for Westfield's Summer Stage program will be Saturday, May 21, with a workshop on May 16.
As an alternative to a traditional one-week summer camp, Summer Stage offers students a five-week theatre arts workshop culminating in an annual summer musical. Auditions are rapidly approaching for this year’s presentation of Chicago, made popular with the 2002 film staring Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
“Chicago has everything that makes a musical great,” said Director Lori Knickerbocker. “[It has] a universal tale of fame, fortune and all that jazz; one show-stopping song after another; and the most astonishing dancing you've ever seen.”
Westfield Theatre Boosters founded the workshop in 2001 to offer teen actors, technicians and musicians a musical theatre experience during the summer. The approximately 45 roles available aren’t limited to Westfield students, but are open to Northern Virginia students in rising grades 7-12, plus 2011 high school graduates.
