Alexandria, VA (released: February 26, 2015) – Del Ray Artisans and the T.C. Williams High School Art Department jointly present the 18th annual Student Art Exhibition at Del Ray Artisans gallery. The exhibit will feature artwork from T.C. Williams High School students in grades 9-12. Special recognition will be given to members of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS), who are inducted into the NAHS upon recommendation by their art teachers and have completed a minimum of two years of high school art study during which they have demonstrated exemplary achievement. Many of these students will continue to study art at the college level, and much of the work on exhibit was featured in the senior students’ winning college admission portfolios.
The show will be juried by artist and George Mason University School of Art faculty member Elsabé Dixon, a South-African born, Virginia-based artist who uses living environments to create art installations. Dixon recently served as artist-in-residence at the Artisphere in Rosslyn.
An opening reception at Del Ray Artisans gallery on Friday, April 10 from 7-9pm will welcome the staff, parents and students from T.C.Williams High School, as well as City of Alexandria officials and the general public. In addition, a silent auction will be held during the exhibition to benefit the Ted Eichers Scholarship Fund, which awards a $1,000 scholarship each year to a T.C. Williams student who plans to study art in college. Help support this worthwhile cause by bidding throughout the month!
