2 Charged In Gunshots Incident In Hume Springs Area

Alexandria Police say a suspect fired multiple shots at officers, leading to a traffic stop.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A gunshots incident resulted in two arrests Tuesday in the Hume Springs area of Alexandria, according to the police department.

Officers on patrol were investigating a "suspicious event involving a vehicle" in the area of W Reed Avenue and Edison Street when a suspect in the vehicle fired multiple shots at officers. A traffic stop was made, and the two occupants in the vehicle were arrested. No injuries were reported.

Police recovered a weapon from the vehicle. The suspects, an 18-year-old Alexandria resident, and a 20-year-old non-Alexandria resident, were charged with shooting missiles at an occupied vehicle, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and illegal possession of a firearm.
