3-Alarm Fire Causes No Injuries In Del Ray, GoFundMe Started

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A three-alarm fire broke out in Del Ray Friday evening, causing no injuries.

Around 6 p.m., units responded to a two-story duplex in the 100 block of E. Del Ray Avenue. Images from the scene show firefighters encountered heavy fire. The Alexandria Fire Department reported extensive damage to both residences in the duplex. There was no initial estimate of damages.

The fire marshal's office is investigating the cause. The fire remains under investigation at this time.

According to the fire department, the fire "required extensive operations throughout the night" by fire departments in Alexandria and surrounding jurisdictions.

The Red Cross is assisting two displaced adults and one child. The Del Ray Citizens Association has started a GoFundMe for the family. Within a day, it has raised over $22,000.
