Absentee Voting Opens in Alexandria Friday
The statewide primary election is still a few months away, but Alexandria voters can begin absentee Friday.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- The statewide primary election is June 13, but Alexandria residents can begin absentee voting Friday, April 28.
This includes voters who are:
- Away for personal business, work, vacation, active military service or at school
- Working and commute for 11 or more hours, between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. on June 13
- Physically unable to go to the polls because of an illness or disability
- Caregivers for disabled or ill family members
- First responders

In-person absentee voting is conducted at the Voter Registrations and Elections, (132 N. Royal St., Suite 100) and runs through June 10. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed for Memorial Day) and Saturdays, June 3 and 10, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. There will be extended hours through 8 p.m. on May 31, June 1 and June 6.
Voters can apply for an absentee ballot by June 6 and return the ballot by June 13. Photo identification is required by Virginia law for in-person absentee voters.

The voter registration deadline for the primary is May 22.

Lieutenant Governor
- Justin Fairfax (D)

- Glenn Davis, Jr. (R)
- Jill Vogel (R)
There are no state Senate elections this year, and Dels. Mark Levine Charniele Herring (D) is unopposed in the primary.
