ALERT: National Weather Service Issues Advisory

The advisory is in effect Wednesday from 4 a.m. to midnight.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the region including:

  • DC
  • Fairfax County
  • Arlington County
  • Falls Church
  • Alexandria

The advisory is in effect Wednesday from 4 a.m. to midnight. The National Weather Service predicts up to 1 inch of snow, with a forecast that precipitation will begin to fall between 4-6 a.m., continuing into the late morning hours.

They expect the snow to turn to sleet, ending by early afternoon. Temperatures will be in the mid-20s during the predawn hours, the NWS says. “Coupled with road and air temperatures well below freezing will cause accumulation of snowfall on roadways. This will result in hazardous driving conditions,” the weather service noted.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties, NWS said. “Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities.”
