Alexandria Library Prepares To Resume Regular Hours

Alexandria Library is bringing back normal hours and tweaking other policies in early April.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria Library announced it will return to regular hours and services on Monday, April 4.

Updates to hours and services are based on Alexandria and most of Northern Virginia being in low COVID-19 transmission. Hours at Charles E. Beatley, Jr. Central Library, Kate Waller Barrett Branch Library, Ellen Coolidge Burke Branch Library, and James M. Duncan, Jr. Branch Library locations will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The Local History/Special Collections Branch will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Alexandria Law Library will be open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday. Curbside service remains available by appointment at alexlibraryva.org/curbside.

Starting April 4, meeting rooms will be available for reservation and use. Patrons should check available time slots and make reservations at alexlibraryva.org/meeting-rooms.

In-person programs will resume at libraries, although some programs may remain virtual. Attendees should check individual events for details.

Earlier in March, Alexandria Library joined the city government in dropping the mask requirement at libraries. Masks are now encouraged but not required at library locations. Food is not allowed in libraries, but covered drinks are permitted.
