Alexandria Man Shoots Person In Arlington: Police

Police arrested the suspect days after the shooting near the southern border of Arlington.

ARLINGTON, VA—Police arrested and charged an Alexandria man for a Dec. 30 shooting in Arlington.

Juan Francisco Rivera Pineda, 24, was arrested on Jan. 3 with the assistance of Alexandria Police. He was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility.

On Dec. 30, police responded to a call at South Glebe Road and South Arlington Ridge Road around 7:03 p.m. Officers found a male victim suffering from trauma to the upper body and provided aid. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim's condition changed to stable, and he is expected to survive.

Arlington County Police initially did not have a suspect. The department announced the arrest on Friday.

The incident happened near the border with Alexandria.
