Alexandria Named Safest City In U.S.

Alexandria was the first of three cities deemed the safest in America based on crime rates.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Alexandria was named the second safest city in America of 2018 in a recent ranking. A new study contends that it deserves an even higher standing.

PennyGeeks.com, which provides analysis auto insurance, took a look at the safest cities based on FBI Crime Report statistics. Three cities came out on top with Alexandria leading the way.

Alexandria beat out 54 other cities for the top ranking. The site states that Alexandria residents are "far less likely to fall victim to either violent or property-related crimes than anywhere else in the state" according to crime statistics. PennyGeeks touts the city's public safety initiatives as a key reason for the low crime.
