Alexandria Police To Monitor Underage Alcohol Sales
In a one-day check, police will be monitoring Alexandria businesses to ensure they are not selling alcohol to underage kids.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Alexandria Police will be monitoring compliance with laws barring alcohol sales to underage kids on Thursday, June 1.
Police will monitor underage people attempting to purchase alcohol. If the store sells them alcohol, police will contact store management and file a police report. Store clerks can be charged with a misdemeanor under Virginia law by selling alcohol to underage kids.
The one-day check is part of an effort to prevent underage people from purchasing alcohol and ensure store clerks and managers are properly educated on the law. The compliance check is done as part of a partnership with the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Alexandria.
