Catch On The Ave Shuts Down In Del Ray

The location had seen turnover since longtime Caboose Cafe closed in 2017.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Catch on the Ave, a seafood-focused restaurant, has closed after nearly a year at 2419 Mount Vernon Avenue in the Del Ray neighborhood.

The restaurant group, Common Plate Hospitality, cited rent and personnel costs in a statement to Eater DC. The group's other restaurants are Augie's Mussel House, which recently reopened after renovations, Urbano 116 and Mason Social.

Catch on the Ave opened on Dec. 19, 2018. It offered seasonal menus with a raw bar, appetizers, entrees, sandwiches and salads.

The 2419 Mount Vernon Avenue space has seen turnover since Caboose Cafe closed. SnackBar opened in place of Caboose Cafe in 2017 and closed in September 2018. Caboose Cafe, Rhoda Worku's Ethiopian restaurant, had been a neighborhood staple since 2004 until its closure.

There is no word on what will replace Catch on the Ave.
