The Company Of Books Moving To New Del Ray Location

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Del Ray used bookstore The Company of Books will have a new home after it completes a move in August.

The Company of Books is moving from its current location at 1712 Mount Vernon Avenue to a new location at 2200 Mount Vernon Avenue, which is several blocks north. The new location will provide more space for books and events, including a second floor, and improve accessibility, according to the bookstore's website.

The move is expected between Aug. 22 and 26. Volunteers are needed to help with moving on Aug. 22, 23, 25 and 26. Volunteers will receive $2 per hour in store credit and refreshments. To sign up, email tcbdelray@gmail.com.

A soft reopening is anticipated on Aug. 27 followed by a grand reopening on Sept. 3. Grand opening festivities will include author Francine Piriano-Davila with her book "Cloud Monsters" on Sept. 3, book and paper crafting events during the Sept. 3-5 weekend, snacks, drinks and more.

The move comes two years after the Company of Books opened in the summer of 2020. A moving sale continues through Aug. 21 ahead of the move. The Company of Books will offer book discounts and bargain-priced books outside. Customers with a TCB bag can fill it up with books outdoors for $5 per bag. Book donations will not be accepted through Sept. 3.
