Stroller and Pet Costume Contests
Judging for the Stroller Competition will be done prior to the parade start. Stroller entries must register by 1:30 p.m. at the corner of Mt. Vernon and E. Howell Avenues. Look for the long string of orange balloons and signage. There is no fee to register and there are lots of wonderful prizes donated from our local businesses. Stroller Categories are Creative, Humorous, Best Group or Family, Less is More, and Overall.
Pet Costume Registration begins at 1:30 pm on Mt. Vernon south of E. Howell Ave. Look for signs. Categories include Creative, Team, How Could You Do This to Me, and Vola Lawson Best of Show.
After the Parade
A brief ceremony will follow the parade where the awards will be presented, along with refreshments (hot dogs donated by 7-Eleven, cider, and cookies) and goodie bags for the children (including, as long as they last, healthy bags that will not have any candy).
Awards for Best Pet Costume, Best Decorated Business, Best Decorated Home, and Best Decorated Stroller will be announced at the playing fields after the parade.
Popular band Mars Rodeo will provide entertainment. National Community Church will host Goblin Games and activities for the children, like Bowling for Bones, Pin the Wart on the Witch, Skeleton Toss, Monster Mash, and Ghost Drop.
You can have your photo taken on the field over by the tennis courts.
From 5–8 p.m., families can enjoy the free Spooky Bean Haunted Halloween Circus, constructed by Bean Creative. The Graveyard is located at the grassy lot next to their business at Mt. Vernon and E. Del Ray Avenue.
