Del Ray Holiday Decorating Contest Winners Named In 2021
Homes and businesses were asked to show their holiday spirit and enter the Del Ray Holiday Decorating Contest.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — Winners of the 2021 Del Ray Holiday Decorating Contest were announced on Christmas Eve.
The contest, hosted by the Del Ray Citizens Association and Del Ray Business Association, had awards for Best Home Display, Best Business Display, Best Business Window Paint Display and People's Choice Awards. Homes and businesses could submit nominations by Dec. 10.
The winner of the home decorating category was a tie between 107 Stewart Avenue and 242 Burgess Avenue. Second place went to 205 E. Oxford Avenue, and third place went to 3103 Russell Road. The honorable mention was 1136 Portner Road. The People's Choice winner was 107 Stewart Avenue.

In the business decorating category, the first place winner was Lena's Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap. Second place went to Yates Auto, and third place went to the Joy on the Avenue pop-up holiday bar. The Dog Store was an honorable mention. Spice Kraft Indian Bistro won the business window painting category. The People's Choice award went to Bellies and Babies.
The Best Home Display, Best Business Display and Best Business Window Paint Display awards were decided by judges, and the People's Choice award was decided by a public vote online. Judges included Connie & Donnie Knight and Dasher (the 2020 Best Decorated House winner), Councilmember-elect Alyia Gaskins, and Mayor Justin Wilson. From Dec. 11 to 20, judges visited nominees, and the public could vote online for the People's Choice.
