ALEXANDRIA, VA — A psychologist and co-owner of Del Ray Psych & Wellness announced the launch of a new podcast called "Why Does This Keep Happening To Me?"

Dr. Eleni Boosalis, a clinical psychologist, focuses on how listeners can break unhealthy patterns in their lives and help others live healthy lives. The series features lessons based on personal stories and conversations with survivors, thrivers and experts.

The title of the podcast is derived from a question she has heard from therapy clients and others. In a video explaining the new series, Boosalis said people find themselves "stuck" in unhealthy patterns, whether it be in relationships, careers, or friendships. She said the series seeks to destigmatize mental illness, help people feel connected, and inspire people as they're faced with various sources of anxiety.

"As I have traveled the path of healing myself and others, I began to realize that there were common themes and lessons coming up over and over again," said Boosalis in a statement. "I want this podcast to be a platform to share these lessons and inspire people to break toxic patterns in their lives. My hope is that each story can help someone live with more ease and understanding that they are not alone."

Five episodes have been released as part of the podcast launch. One of the episodes involves a survivor discussing how she came out of a domestic violence situation, while another shared a story of sobriety. The "Recovering Drama Queens" episode features Boosalis and others discussing breaking a pattern of creating drama in their lives.
