Del Ray's First Thursday Includes Cherry Blossom Scavenger Hunt
First Thursday Street Festivals will return on a monthly basis. April's event theme is "A Cherry Blossom Celebration."

ALEXANDRIA, VA — While peak bloom will come and go for DC's cherry blossom trees, the cherry blossom season continues into April. Del Ray's monthly First Thursday street festivals will kick off in April with a cherry blossom-themed event.
First Thursday: A Cherry Blossom Celebration will be held on Thursday, April 6 from 6 p.m. to dusk along Mount Vernon Avenue. This free event will feature live music by Mars Rodeo, themed activities and a scavenger hunt with cherry blossom-inspired art from local artists.
The Cherry Blossom Challenge scavenger hunt begins March 30. Participants are invited to search for clues hidden in hand-painted windows in storefronts along Mount Vernon Avenue. Find all the clues by April 13 for a chance to win $50 to your favorite Del Ray restaurant or retail store.

First Thursday typically features a different theme and benefits a different local nonprofit each week. For April's event, attendees are encouraged to bring individually-wrapped children’s snacks and juice boxes for the Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Boys & Girls Club, which provides programs for youth. Donations will be collected at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square at Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues and at totes along Mount Vernon Avenue.
First Thursday is held monthly from April to September in the heart of Alexandria's Del Ray neighborhood. Ting, a new internet provider in Alexandria, is sponsoring April's event.
