Dumfries Man Charged With Murder in 2015 Shooting Death

City police ask the public for more information about homicide on Belle Pre Way.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- A Dumfries man is behind bars after being charged with murder Thursday in the shooting last fall of an Alexandria man.

The Alexandria police arrested Brian Bolar, 26, on Thursday on charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to a police statement. The charges stem from the shooting of Leon Williams, who died from wounds sustained in the Oct. 7 incident on Belle Pre Way, off Henry Street (Route 1).

Bolar is being held without bond in the William G. Truesdale Detention Center (the city jail), the police said. The Police Department thanked the U.S. Marshals Service for its help in apprehending Bolar.
