Election Officers Sought For Super Tuesday 2020 In Alexandria

Election officers will be paid $150 in Alexandria. Plus check on other important dates for the March 3 presidential primary.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Alexandria Office of Voter Registrations and Elections is seeking election officers to help with the presidential primary on Super Tuesday, March 3. Election officers are paid $150.

Alexandria's 30 precincts require at least five election officers at each polling place. Election officers will set up the polling place and voting equipment, carry out voting procedures, verify voter registrations, certify the results of the precinct and close the polling place. Election officers are assigned to a precinct as close to their homes as possible.

To be eligible for the position, you must be a registered voter in Virginia, be civic-minded, have basic computer user skills, attend a training class before the election and be available for all of Election Day. Election officers are required to report at 4:45 a.m. on Election Day. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Super Tuesday will include the Democratic presidential primary. There is no Republican presidential primary, as the Republican Party will hold a statewide convention in the spring. Voters are not registered by party in Virginia, so they are eligible to vote in any primary.
