Alexandria, VA (released: December 14, 2014) – Del Ray Artisans presents Elements, an exhibit showcasing the art of seven members of the Board of Directors. The elements of earth, water, air, and fire can be seen in artworks incorporating materials such as canvas, clay, glass, metal, paint, paper, and porcelain, and explored in a variety of media and subject matter. Del Ray Artisans’ talented seven Elements artists together form the artistic components of this exhibit featuring 2- and 3-dimensional art, a silent auction, and art-to-go. Come to our opening reception onFriday, February 6 from 7-9pm and meet the artists:
- John Bordner, an Old School medium/large format photographer, makes the digital turn—(mega)bit by (mega)bit.
- Kathryn Brown captures compositions through her camera lens, as she observes everyday objects in her unique way.
- Michele Reday Cook explores the atmospheres and auras of her favorite places, and people, in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and clay.
- Linda Elliff incorporates found objects in her collages, jewelry, and wall mirrors.
- Kim S. Joy creates in stained glass using the copper foil technique and works in jewelry for little “staycations.”
- Marlin Lord presents his special photography of nature, acrylic abstracts and figure drawings.
- Tamara Wilkerson creates jewelry and objects out of wire.
The art exhibit runs from February 6 through March 1, 2015 at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Nicholas Colasanto Center, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria VA 22301. Regular gallery hours are: Thursdays 12-6pm, Fridays and Saturdays 12-9pm, and Sundays 12-6pm. The gallery is free, open to the public, and handicap accessible.
