“Fire and Earth” National Ceramic Cup and Regional 2-D Art Exhibit

Exhibit Dates: September 2–October 2, 2016

“Fire and Earth” are two of the four classical elements. This exhibit celebrates these elements in a hybrid show that combines a National ceramic cup exhibit with a regional 2-D exhibit. This exhibit honors how fire in the kiln transforms earth (clay) into functional drinking vessels. The exhibit is juried by Dan Finnegan, a nationally and internationally recognized potter. Local Del Ray businesses St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub, Junction Bakery & Bistro, Evening Star Café, and Artifacts, Inc. Custom Framing are sponsoring awards for the best cups and 2-D work. Please join us for the opening reception on Friday, September 2 from 7-9pm. Come enjoy the artwork and mingle with artists and art appreciators during this unveiling of the exhibit.

In conjunction with the exhibit, the juror is conducting a workshop, “The Mighty Mug,” that will be hosted by the Clay Queen in Del Ray on Saturday, September 10, 2016. Event details and registration are at: DelRayArtisans.org/event/mug-workshop
