First Thursday Wraps Up In September With Show Your Spirit Theme

First Thursday will celebrate fall sports with a "Show Your Spirit" themed First Thursday in September.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Del Ray's First Thursday street festivals will wrap up in 2022 with the last event on Thursday, Sept. 1.

First Thursday: Show Your Spirit will take place along Mount Vernon Avenue from 6 p.m. to dusk along Mount Vernon Avenue near Pat Miller Neighborhood Square (Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues). Attendees are encouraged to wear school or team colors and enjoy live music, themed activities and more. The event is free to attend.

Each month's First Thursday benefits a different nonprofit. September's featured nonprofit is Safe Space NOVA, which aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ youth. Needed donations include folding chairs, artwork, and gently-used clothing (including prom attire). Donations can be brought to Pat Miller Neighborhood Square, or monetary donations can be made online.
