First Thursday Wraps Up With 'Show Your Spirit' Festival

ALEXANDRIA, VA — First Thursday will wrap up for 2021 after the final event on Thursday, Sept. 2.

The theme for September's First Thursday is "Show Your Spirit." Attendees are encouraged to wear team colors of their favorite team, whether it's Alexandria City High School or another team. The festival takes place along Mount Vernon Avenue from 6 p.m. to dusk. There will be live music from 11th Hour, themed activities, and more. Admission is free.

Each month's festival supports a different community nonprofit. September's featured nonprofit is the Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Boys & Girls Club, which provides programs for youth in Alexandria. Needed donations include colored pencils, notebooks, notepads, composition books, pencils, pens, children's scissors, lined paper and binders. Donations can be dropped off at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square at Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues.

This month's First Thursday is sponsored by the Jen Walker Team. First Thursday festivals happen monthly from April to September.
