Four Mile Run Rises To Scary Levels (Video)

The stream bordering Alexandria and Arlington rose by more than six feet in 11 minutes, the National Weather Service said.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Thunderstorms brought another round of heavy rain to already soaked grounds and bloated bodies of water Wednesday evening. The storm certainly took a toll on Four Mile Run, the stream separating Alexandria and Arlington.

The National Weather Service reported that the stream rose from 4.3 feet to 10.6 feet around 7:27 p.m. That's a change of 6.3 feet in 11 minutes.

Photos and video posted to social media showed the stream moving much more rapidly than usual.

And that wasn't the only stream around Alexandria rising to dangerous levels.

The sun came out for some much-needed relief Thursday, but that might not continue. Friday's forecast from NWS calls for afternoon thunderstorms, and slight chances of showers during the weekend.
