Moran, who just completed her doctorate in Education at George Mason University, writes and perform kids’ music with her band at schools, music festivals, performing arts centers, museums, zoos, children’s hospitals and rock music venues all around the DC metro area.

Rainbow Rock is all about giving back to the community and helping those who need it most and this show is no different. At every Rainbow Rock show, the band will collect new or gently used kids’ items to distribute.

At Saturday’s CD release show, the band will collect gently used books for Alexandria Book Shelf, to help share the joy of reading with children in need. The Rainbow Rock Band Collection is a registered 501(c)(3) organization.

The Rainbow Rock CD release will include a show, as well as a few other fun activities:

  • A Rainbow Rock photo booth with lots of dress-up items for you to capture your best Rainbow Rock Shot!
  • Temporary tattoo station with “Meet the Rainbow!” tattoos and other super fun rainbow rocker specialty tattoos.
  • A coloring station with custom rainbow rock coloring sheets, a spot for all of our Rainbow Rockers to show off their artistic side!

What are the songs about?

“There are some super fun original songs that we have recorded and we can’t wait for you to hear them, starting off with ’The Squirrel in the Cupcake,’ which is definitely one of my favorite tracks!” says Moran in a news release about the new CD. ”Can you imagine a squirrel in a cupcake, or a snake in your sandwich, how about an owl in your omelet, or a mouse in your mustard...That’s so crazy right?!”

Other songs on the CD include “Superhero,” “Bob the Butterfly,” “The Sheriff of Shape-Town,” “Little One” and “The Tale of Satchel and Lucy.”

The CD was recorded and mixed by Aaron Mason and mastered by Branden Funkhouser at Radiohouse Mastering. Cover art is by Lynn Rovelli.
