ALEXANDRIA, VA — Kiskadee, a women's boutique along Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray, will close in April.

Owner Celeste Crutchfield announced the closing Thursday in Alexandria Stylebook. The anticipated closing day is April 3, but the store could possibly reopen April 18 to sell remaining items. The final day of the store's lease is April 30.

Crutchfield explained the factors that led to the closure decision, from staffing and supply chain issues to a desire to spend more time with her daughters.

"With all these contributing factors, I made the decision to close," Crutchfield wrote. "I want nothing more than to spend as much time as I can with my family this summer."

This won't be the end of Kiskadee, however. Crutchfield will look into pop-up shops and holiday shows, and Kiskadee's online sales will stay active. Another brick-and-mortar store isn't ruled out for the future either.

Kiskadee dates back to 2007. Originally founded by Darby Rush and Neil Hall, the business traded hands to Crutchfield in 2017. The store offers a variety of women's apparel, accessories, home goods and gift items.

"I want to thank all our loyal customers for being so supportive, especially during the last two years, Crutchfield wrote. "I also want to thank my employees, especially the ones who have stuck with me through it all. I appreciate all of you."

A closing sale started Thursday with 20 to 30 percent off full-price items. Discounts on fall and winter items continue as part of the ongoing warehouse sale. Additional discounts will come at a later time.
