New Dessert Shop Opens in Del Ray
The store is giving away a grand prize drawing of dinner for four at a Del Ray restaurant and a guided dessert tour.
ALEXANDRIA, VA -- There's a new place to satisfy your sweet tooth in Del Ray. Saturday is the grand opening of Dolce and Bean, a new family-owned dessert shop at 2003A Mount Vernon Avenue. The shop, which held a soft opening in April, will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m Saturday with samplings throughout the day.
The store offers fine desserts such as Belgian chocolates, French macarons, crepes and gelato, as well as coffee and soda. Offerings include gluten-free and vegan options. Cookie Seifu, owner of Dolce and Bean, says the products were selected from well-known dessert artisans.
“We are very excited to be doing business in Alexandria, and serving the Del Rey area, as well as the surrounding neighborhoods. We hope to be providing an exceptional dessert experience to the community for years to come, but especially to mothers this May 14th," said Seifu.

Visitors to the store have a chance to win a number of prizes. The store will hold a drawing May 24 for gift certificates and a grand prize of dinner for four at a Del Ray restaurant and guided dessert tour. To enter the drawing, register in-store or like the Dolce and Bean Facebook page through May 15.
“Just as with wine, every person has a taste profile when it comes to sweets," said Seifu. "The contest winner and guests will be given a ‘taste-tour’ to learn more about their preferences, and how to pair various confections with different food and drink.”
